So, after just a few weeks with my DS, I had to refill the screenwash for the first time, and honestly, I’m baffled. For a car packed with tech and with options that can easily push the price tag to luxury levels, how is there no low-level warning for screenwash? Seriously, DS, this feels like such a basic feature to leave out.

The worst part? The washer bottle itself. The opening is at such an awkward angle that I had to pour the liquid in at a dribble just to avoid making a mess. And then, after all that, I discovered it only holds about 2.5 liters. That’s it! My last car (a Volvo) had a much larger bottle, around 5 liters, and filling it was a breeze with a properly designed opening.

But it’s not just the capacity. My Volvo also sprayed the screenwash for a second or two before the wipers started sweeping, which was great for avoiding that awful dry blade-on-dusty-glass scrape. DS, take notes! It’s such a simple and effective touch.

Oddly enough, I found an online manual that shows a low-level warning indicator for the screenwash bottle, so maybe it’s a feature on some DS models or trims? If anyone knows, please chime in. Is it just the DS4 that doesn’t have it, or am I missing something?

What do you all think? Are you dealing with the same frustration, or is this just me being picky? I’d love to hear if anyone’s found a workaround or knows why DS skipped this basic feature.

You could try reaching out to DS customer service to see if there's a software update or a setting that might help. It's worth a shot, even though it seems unlikely.

In the meantime, you might want to consider getting a larger aftermarket washer fluid reservoir. This could help you avoid frequent refills.

As for the awkward filling process, you could try using a funnel to make it easier.

I’ve never had a car with that feature before, but now that you bring it up, I see where you're coming from.

Try aftermarket sensors. You might be able to install an aftermarket low-level sensor, but this would involve tapping into the car's electrical system, which can be tricky and could void your warranty if not done correctly. It's also an added expense and hassle.

You can also simply check the washer fluid level frequently.

I feel like DS's got so many design flaws. I hope they listen to their customers.

Super spot on that lack of a windshield washer warning on a DS is just plain cheap. bad design on the reservoir too. Compared Volvo's pre spray system shows how little details matter. It's not being picky to expect basic features at that price.

A 2.5L washer reservoir with no warning? That’s some premium cost-cutting. Did DS ever explain why they left out such a basic feature, or are they just ignoring the issue?
